Over the last two years I´ve had to raise the motor in my Camaro,
new timing chain and cover, new headers on, later off to paint,
oil pump twice.
Everytime I unbolted the front engine mounts and jacked the motor up I never gave the rear mount under the trans a thought.
Here´s what I found after hearing clunking noises in the corners.

Ooo I see.

If the Camaro is a 3rd or 4th generation, the trans mount takes the brunt of the load from the 'torque arm' too. Double Whammy!

It´s a 3rd gen.
I should have inspected it everytime I was under the car.

Hello Malc, Good to see a fellow 3rd gen owner. One way to remove some of the stress from the rear trans mount is to switch to a torque arm and cross member assembly from someone like Spohn or UMI. They move the front torque arm connection point from the rear of the trans to the crossmember itself. I guess it's a big improvement in launch as well. Plan on doing this myself once I get my new trans built.
