Tonight I made the other two patterns for the floor panels by the front doors. I folded them just like I will need to break the sheet metal and it helped me to get a real good handle on how to proceed. I could also check for the right height to ensure a flat floor. I think that I might even make them in one piece for each side now, (I was going to do it in two pieces each side). Yes, deadbodyman my next step is to NOT FORGET TO MEASURE AND PLAN FOR THE CROSS BRACES AND THE SEAT MOUNTS. :spank: Seriously, thanks to many of you guys for the terrific info and the support! It certainly makes it all more enjoyable. Helps to keep me after it, also.

Matt, it won't be long that rust will have packed it's bags and moved out of town!

Yep Street, seeing progress, even if it isn't on my car gets me pumped up too!

Tonight was a real 5 minute night, well, maybe ten or fifteen. :) I masked off and painted the silver portions of the park lamp bezels and then got in the house and crashed on the couch. Tomorrow I will be able to complete the park lamps finally.
My Gran Sport emblem has a broken stud so i am going to have to figure out a way to hold it. My brother gave me a good idea in that I can using a die thread what is left of the stud and then screw onto it one of those deep nuts. Then screw a machine screw into the nut holding it. I have a VERY good hardware store, if they don't have what I need I doubt anyone does. So tomorrow that will be one thing I need to do, get over there and see what they have.

Last night I carried the seats down from the attic to check mounts, etc. for the new floor (who the hell put those seats in the attic anyway, don't they know I'm too old for this!). At first I thought with the tranny tunnel there was not going to be enough room and I panicked! I couldn't fit them between there and the doors! I went to bed totally bummed, thinking now I had to get new seats and I thought the ones I had were pretty comfortable, etc.
This morning before leaving for work, I tried them out again and sat in it. I needed to move them back a bit for leg room, and even with the drop over the frame rails up front, I could tell I would still have plenty of headroom. I think if I leave them back, build a bit of riser for the mounts, and with them up a bit higher, I can scoot them over the tunnel a little more and they should be fine. Second look = different perspective; even if it means more things to do. Still good! Bob

You got something accomplished! I went out for my five minutes, (been working a LOT of hard hours at work, I am bushed) and found that I couldn't put my park lamp lenses on because the darn gasket is all messed up. I need to make new ones or buy new ones. I'll do some research on that today.

I remember these with the front wheels up at the strips. Funny, I don't remember the graphics. Excellent!!!! Bob
Many of the factory prepped S/S AMXs... and also Javelins that were road raced... were painted similar to this overall concept. This scheme was based on the original prototype car from Hurst Performance (at a car show below), since it was about 1/3rd of each color. Many of them had less white, but we liked the original.

Many racers changed it around, and created their own red-white-blue scheme. Someone even built a flip top funny car painted similarly. :)~

My boss just went and looked at a super nice AMX restoration project yesterday. It has a solid California nearly rust free body (just a tad behind the wheels on the quarters I am told). It does have the little 343 and a Javlin front sheet metal on it as the car had rear ended someone. But it is all un-painted with the front sheetmetal a different color.

But boy does that sucker look like a nice project for only $2000.

That is cheap... but that doghouse will cost! We really needed a hood... but the only one I could find was $2K. Obviously we fixed this one.

There is a clean running 390 car near Tucson for $17K... but that's the only one I know of.

Thanks.
Not too much time. The pieces are laser cut. I just have to polish them up, cut the tubes, tack them together, weld the tubes and back to the polishing again.

Brian, if you have a lot of trouble finding the gaskets for your lenses you can buy a roll of cork at the art supply store or hobby shops and make them yourself...
