Hey guys, thanks to everyone that helped with the 350 thread last week, but iv been looking at parts, prices, and my money..... And decided I can't build a plain ole 350 with a perfectly good 4 bolt block. So 383 it is. I finally got everything put together and I need yalls input on how you think this will run and if it'll run on 93 pump gas (non-ethanol).Here goes.

Eagle specialties 383 external balance rotating assembly w/ +12cc dish hyper pistons. 5.7 rods, 3.75 stroke
Lunati voodoo cam ( PN 10120703). 268/276 advertised. 227/233 @.050. 489/504 lift. LSA 110. ICL 106.
Fel-pro gasket .041 thickness/4.166 bore.
64cc double hump heads. 2.02/1.60 valves, port, bowl blend, completely reworked and ready.
Holley 670 street avenger vac secondary
Performer RPM air gap intake.

If I'm figuring right I got A static comp of 9.675 and dynamic at 8.976. How would this run on 93 pump gas?? I could 0 the deck but it'll up my compression to 10.2/9.5. Hows that on pump gas?? I know what everyone is saying about the heads..... They will eventually be changed out with AFR's after funds are rebuild. But that might be a little while so I need it to run with the old iron heads good.tell me what y'all think about this and double check my comp numbers just to be sure. And if someone has a desktop dyno or know what this motor would be capable of producing, I'd like to hear it. Thanks everyone.

Your numbers are skewed. 12cc pistons with a 64cc chamber on a 383 will put you at 10.30:1 SCR. You'll want to use 18cc pistons with a D-cup for a 9.7:1 SCR. With the cam you have, closing the intake at 39.5 degrees ABDC @0.050" tappet lift, 9.7:1 SCR will produce a 8.36:1 DCR. Just right for a pump gas, iron-headed streeter. Try to get the squish down to around 0.035"-0.045". I'm not sure I'd use an air gap if you are gonna drive in cold weather. It'll just take longer for the motor to warm up and run right.

There would be a set of long-tube 1 5/8" headers on the buy list if I were doin' it.

Set the heads up with weak, used, stock springs to break in the cam, then change them out with the Lunati 73943 springs. These are very stout springs and Lunati must have thought they are needed to keep the tappet on the lobe with this aggressive grind. If you try to break the cam in with stiff springs, you will be doing an engine teardown shortly to clean out all the shrapnel and buying another cam and set of lifters. Please read this tutorial over a few times so that you understand that flat tappet lifters are a problem nowadays.....You can still use 'em, you just have to jump through all the hoops....

If you step up the cam, you have to also step up the SCR and I'm not sure that's a good idea with an iron-headed pump gas motor. I'm pretty sure the OP wants to use this Voodoo because of the rump-rump it will produce (Lunati's version of the Comp Thumpr), so I'm just trying to make it work for him.

not arguing with you tech,I would add a few degrees on the intake side and maybe adjust icl,or advance the cam slightly. You are correct ,though

I would avoid the air gap intake due to slow warm ups. Get the regular rpm intake.

I also recommend a 750 holley 3310. cheaper, bigger, durable.

I would avoid the voodoo or xtreme cams has they tend to go flat much more easily and make much valve train noise. Get a compcam 280H. 230/230 at 0.050" and works well with 10:1 cr and 93 octane, 2800 stall and 3.73 gears.

Your heads will be the bottle neck as far as HP is concerned.

What gear and stall are you planning to run?

I wouldn't buy/use Eagle anything.Too many failures/machining QC issues.

Thanks everyone. I am open to suggestions on the cam. I just picked that one because it looked like it would work well and iv used the voodoo line in a couple other builds that turned out to be a pretty good idea. The carb will also be changed when the heads come off. So it won't have the 670 forever. I got the comp numbers from the Keith black calculator. The only thing I was unsure of was the dynamic comp because it says to add 15 to the Intake closing point which I didn't do. I can drop to the regular style intake if y'all say the air gap isnt going to pay off. I need to start ordering parts soon so I appreciate the quick replies. So I can leave the deck 0.025, drop to the 0.015 gasket and 18cc pistons and I should be good to go? So it'll just be cam selection after that. Which is fun and a nightmere all at once. Am I right? Any more suggestions?
