I’ve swapped small blocks into s10s, small blocks between full size cars and trucks but haven’t swapped a small block for a big block yet.

The motor was rebuilt a few years ago and has less than 1k miles on it. It moves the 26’ winny surprisingly well.

The tbi 350 is smoking when it gets a hot restart and it burns oil/ leaks.

I was planning a vortec 406 build but I snagged the rv for 1000$ and drove it home. The interior is full of garbage and smells of urine, busted windows hence the low price.

I want to keep the 700r4 but I will get a new converter maybe stalled a little higher- 2000ish rpm.

I’d like to use the 454 exhaust manifold also.

I’d also like to swap the 140 amp alternator I just bought for the 350.

I can't offer any help but I have a strong feeling there's gonna be unexpected difficulties. I'll be following this thread. Hopefully you update it with progress and pictures.

Looks like a good book. I planned on removing the bulb for the check engine light - emissions isn’t an issue where I live. From the info I’ve gathered so far it should drop into the mounts and bolt to the tranny. I was going to use the mechanical fuel pump and Rochester. I will play with the curve on the hei. I’d like to keep the AC but living in AK it’s only nice to have for a month or 2. The accessories and water pump clearance were things that concerned me the most

I take pics on builds these days. The hardest part will be keeping the 700r from burning up I imagine. Keeping the od trans will be crucial for my plans to build a fun cruiser. The car has 3.42s and a 8.5 rear

That's gonna be a beast. What about the radiator? Are you planning on trying it with the stock rad? Also definitely put a separate trans cooler on it. Preferably with with it's own little electric fan.

Stock radiator, I’ll shift kit the tranny. The car has heavy duty cooler on it already. I may throw a temp gauge on the trans.

Why do you want overdrive with 3.42 gearing?

I have squarebody with a 700 with 3.42 gearing. Being a squarebody mileage sufferers above 60 so I tend to cruise 60 to 65.

With my 29" tall tires I am cruising around 2000 at 70 (pushing alot of air). Or just under 1700 at 60.

I would like these numbers if I had a diesel. But these both keep me out of peak torque. Driving in 3rd is a real game changer. Makes it better across the board.
2400 at 60. Where I spend a majority of my cruising.
2800 at 70 which actually helps me control my speed and avoid pushing that wall of air.

Now you can install a stall in the 2500 range but your almost never going to be in overdrive.

I had a 96 1500 with a 5 speed and 3.42 gearing. I did not use overdrive till over 80mph. Thing was very happy going 90 but I really needed more gear to make that overdrive useful.

If that motorhome has a th400 or th375(found in motorhomes) I would use that with the 3.42 gearing and be happy.

If a Small block Chevy came out a BB Chevy will bolt right in as far as the engine goes, you can even reuse the same engine mounts in most cases.

modifying the harness to work with the HEI will be simple as well.

Using a Truck transmission in a Car I would rethink that plan.

The Transmission in the car now will probably work fine for a while as well.
