I'm looking to stuff as much meat under the rear end of my 54 BelAir and am finding that there are not many radial's to choose from. The BFG 295 50 15's are a bit small and too low a profile. The only thing else I can find ars some DOT legal drag tires and then the Mickey Thomson's and also the new Hooseir's. Hooseir has the sizes but at the price I would like to know if the quality is worth the cost. I have not heard anything positive about the Mickey Thomsons other than they look good when the car is parked hmmmm.....have any of you ran these radials?

Elevinpointsixtoone,
I ram the MT's for awhile. I didn't like the way the car tracked.
I changed to BFG TA radials, much improvement. I was thinking about the Hoosiers, but they were too spendy for me. I have a few friends/acquaintances who are running the Hoosiers and say they like them.

Go with the Hoosier's, and run away from BFG T/A radials. I have had three sets of them and had problems with all three. I recently put a set of Michelin radials on our old Tahoe from Discount Tire. I happened to mention my problems with T/A radials to the store manager. He just shrugged and said he was not suprised. Since BFG was bought out by Uniroyal the quality of their tires have gone to pot. BFG T/A radials have to be the most over rated tires in history.

I have found that Summit carries the Hoosiers in stock and their Sparks warehouse is only a 45 minute drive for me so no shipping charges but I will have to pop for the sales tax. Has anyone found a really cheap outlet for these tires?
And just to keep this one going...I'm looking for about an 11" tread width and maybe 27"-29" tall sidewall. Besides the 3 brands mentioned above have any of you found somebody else making a radial this big?
