This did'nt really fall under any catagory here.

Whats the deal with the inches in dealing with tires sizes.

For example, my amigo has two standands:

225/75/15 and

31x10.5x15

Now I have converted these every way possible but the numbers dont come up right. Like if those numbers were normal mm, it would be a monster truck tire at a size of 787/266/15 in mm.

So someone please help me!? I can't seem to understand this "new" (at least to me) standard for tires.

Basicly what would 225/75/15 equal in that.... other standard.

its not directly comparable....

225x75x15 isnt
31x10.5x15

A for A, B for B, C for C...

225mm is the width of the tire = 8.85"
75mm is the height of the tire (between the rim and the tread) =2.95"
and 15" is the rim size

31 is the overall diameter (ie 8.85+2.95+15=26.8)
Obviously not the same tire?
10.5 is the width of the tire compareable to the 225mm although a 10.5" tire would be 265mm (or 10.43")

That help?

Thanks arch, now I understand that inches standard, sorry about all that, but no site I found had the answer.

This thread can be moved to the dump now.

Thanks again arch!
