okay before i destroy this dam car i was wondering if any one new how to "slide them back" cause ive tooken every thing off besides the lower control arm but its completly bare. and i am makin this bad boy a gasser if i can ever get the torision bars off and yes ive taken the clips out. no im not getting a tool.

best advice I can give is to look in a motors manual for removal procedure.Pretty sure there will be a trick to it.

Did this on my 69 Roadrunner a lot of years ago.

If you have the adjusting bolts back all the way off and the clip out of the back of the hole, all you have left is 43 years of wear and corrosion. The tool shown in the photo allows you to use a hammer to aid you in removal. You don't want to do anything to mar the surface as this may cause a crack to start. If you are not going to use them again, find an old pipe wrench you don't car about, fit it to the bar, and wail away on it with a big hammer.

Pretty much what red said. Plenty of penetrating oil helps too. Any minor scratches on the bar need to be sanded out too if you plan to reuse the old bars. After all, it's still a spring.
