I'm trying to find out the torque value for the starter mounting bolts. I have a chevy small block. staggered hole starter.

I found values for a chrysler 400, but 50ftlbs. seem too tight?
Thought it may be less due to difference in engine size(maybe different bolt grade).

35ftlb for the two mounting bolts. And don't leave off the brace on the rear of the starter - that will save a broken starter snout.

If you can't find the brace on the rear of the starter, look on the front. If it's still not there, get one.
