I have a 71 monte ss. Right now its a medium blue and fading,(original paint). It has a same color vinyl top. Has all the factory chrome strips. Its got nice chrome mags, and the widest 50s that will fit under the rear with out raising it. so it sits fairly low to the ground. To me it looks like granny still drives it. So my question is; Does anyone have any cool ideas for a make-over and turn her into a sharp 18 to 20 year old fox?

Hey there Monte, Hope some of these tips will help. If I had a 71 Monte this is what I would do:
1) Give the car a nice Paint job. Preferably Black.
2) Get some different rims. A nice set of 18" or 20" wheels would look pretty sweet.
3) Get yourself dual chrome exhaust pipes coming straight out of the back and then put on a flame thrower kit. Believe me, I am 20 years old and there is nothing sweeter than a seeing a car shoot 10 foot flames out of the back of your car.
For the rims you can go to
dirtcheaprims.com or
rimshop.com or you can also look on ebay.
For the flame thrower kit go onto autoloc.com

Do these few adjustments and grandma won't want to even ride in your car. Good Luck

Hey, thanks for the info. That would look sweet. Im un sure about the fire out the back though. I woudnt be surprised if there wasnt a law against it. Ive done some body work and a little painting, but I have never changed a vinyl top is that very hard?

what color have you painted it? How big are the mag wheels you have on there, and what size are the tires in the back. Cause those could make huge adjustments. I've never removed a vinyl top before but I'm guessing that it would be difficult. You might want to make that another post all together so a lot more people could give you the right answer. I looked on RIMSHOP.com and I found a set of rims that would look perfect on your car. They are made by KMC and they are called STEALTH. On the website you can by a special package that gives you both rims and tires. Good Luck and let me know how things go.

I havnt thrown any paint on it yet. I shot some templates just to see. But it dont give the total picture. I would like to make a combination unique.Thats why I asked for some help? But just a thought with the black and maybe some deep real deep puple pearl flames or something. Rear tires are p 295/50r15 10.5s fronts are225/60r15 9.5s. Ill have to check out those stealth rims. My mind is in over drive. Thanks!!!

Good Call Gearhead, I totally forgot about the tint. That can really make a car look nice. Also a 2 to 3 inch cowl hood would look sweet. The deep purple flames would be a really nice touch over the black also. Keep Me posted.

I didnt think of the tinted windows; Thats also an awsum idea. The cowel hood I think I would have to break out the nibbler and warm up the welder. I dont Think there is a factory design. Im not sure on that one. Plus I might have to turn the exhaust out in front of the rear wheels; Because Im running 3in stainless exh. I apreciate all the input. What about building a set of rear window louvers? And maybe a wing on the rear?
