i am making homemade traction bars for an s10 similar to a slide a link but with no slide but will let the axle travel up and down. my ? is would it work above the leaf springs as well as underneath? because im using lowering blocks and ground clearance is a problem.

They won't work too well on top of the leaf springs. The front of the springs will just buckle (wrap into an S shape).

I suggest clamping the forward leaves to make the spring more rigid. Adding another main leaf and deleting a shorter leaf helps too. Look up Mopar super stock springs from the mid 60s to see how they were made..

Often reversing the shorter leaves helps more when you clamp the forward ends. It makes the forward stiffer and the rear more flexible.
