My quick look on google gave me the following information about Chevrolet casting comes back to this, CHEV 8.1L /496 02-04 ENGINE. this I copied from my quick search

CHEVY 8.1/496 02-04 ENGINE VIN #G. 4 BOLT MAIN, BLOCK # 12558110, HEAD # 12558162, CRANK # 430, CAM GEAR CASTING NUMBERS LAST 3 ARE 872 OR 762

The other numbers may or may not apply to your engine but it looks to me like it is a 496CI motor.

The 8.1 is different from all the other BBC engines out there. Not much in aftermarket parts and I'm certain they will be large.....$$$
