What causes uneven and premature brake pad wear on Chevrolet S10 Blazer 4x4 front pads.

The portion of the pad with the "squealer" wears thin with a few hundred miles.

Thanks.

I am going to replace the pads and inspect the calipers. Since these are GM single piston floating calipers, the problem may be the caliper is hanging up. The piston is pushing the inboard pad into the rotor but the caliper is not pulling the outboard pad into the rotor with equal force.

I may replace the pads, calipers and rotors. I replace the flexible brake lines two years ago and they seem to be in good shape with no kinks.

Sliders are seized, or move very hard.
The o rings inside the bores that the mount bolts go into have rust behind them, making them grab too hard to the bolt / slider pin , keeping them from sliding easily, this keeps the inside pad applying harder than the outside, wearing them un evenly
Take the calipers off and see if the slider barrels move easily. If not, then pull out the o rings and clean out the rust, lube the O rings with a suit- able brake grease,re install. Dont forget to lubricate the contact points of the brake pad itself, you know...where the pads touch on the caliper mounts. They can become seized at that point also, resulting in the same condition.
Be sure they move freely on the mounts before putting the caliper back on.

Thanks again, Before I replace the calipers, I will install a brake kit. I purchased an ACDelco 18K256X (GM 1926240) brake parts kit which includes inner and outer O-rings and steel slider pin bushings. Also install Raybestos ATD154C Ceramic brake pads. I will replace those parts and lube clean and lube everything with Permatex Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube #20353.

ACDelco, Made in China
Permatex, Made in U.S.A.
