I'm looking to remove the OEM leather from a door panel and it's glued to the plastic. I know I can hack it off, but is there a cleaner way of doing it? I was thinking of either blow drying or steaming it to release the glue, but just wanted to see if anyone had a better way of doing it?

There is no good way to do it, it's a long messy job. The glue is good up over 200 degrees, so the hair dryer won't touch it. An industrial heat gun would probably be your best bet. Mineral spirits or Xylol (a better quality & more expensive version of mineral spirits) is the solvent for most contact adhesives.

Is it so damaged that you can't just go over it or dye it the color you want?

Great, thanks for the reply. I ended up just being very patient and getting up an inch at a time. It's a new hobby for me, so I'm a little hesitant to tear things apart like a wild man just in case I need screw up and it need to put it back.

Thanks Again!
