You see them in a lot of the rental motorhomes.................

I don't know anything about them, but if they use them in rentals, they must be fairly reliable......mileage........???????????

I'm on my second V10 the first was in a Crew Cab 2X4 I got 14.7 MPG on the hyw and it would out tow my 7.3 coming and going. I now have an Excursion 4X4 with 4:30 gears and again love it. I get 14 MPG on the HWY. I have 100K miles on this motor and it has seen the shop once for a coil. By far the best motor I have ever had.

V-10 Ford

Read an article in Hot Rod a year or two ago about a fellow dropped one in a late model Crown Vic. It was a real screaming demon, up to about 85-90 mph. Seems there was some kind of MPH governor built into the computer and he was trying to work on bypassing or eliminating the governor.

i have a 2000 excursion 4x4 with 3.73 gears with a v10 and i love it. I have 92000 miles on it now and have not done a thing to it except normal maint. Going back and forth to work with the cruise set at 85 mph i show 13.1 mpg on the overhead computer. the best i have seen is with the cruise set at 65 where the computer showed 16.3 mpg. I have had several f350 4 door 4x4 with diesels in them with 410 gears. They would get between 16-18 mpg. So to me the initial cost, maint, and fuel bill would make the v10 a better choice.

Not sure how the v10 would be on a larger motor home, but on my excursion im very happy

Had one in an E350 a few years back, it would pass anything but a gas station.... 11 mpg but performance was great.

I had a 7.3 diesel a year after and got 14 mpg, about 8 or 9 when towing though.... but that was a 7000 pound boat on a 2000 pound trailer. It would easily go 80 uphill on the WV turnpike.....

I liked em both but the V10 is more convenient and quieter. Saw the factory built V10 Mustang prototype, it's a great car.

v10

I own an 02 f250 v10. It has been troublefree and it will haul a--. No load @ 65 gets about 14 MPG but it dosnt like town. As to the v10 Mustang it was a oneoff smallblock (4.6) by SVT. The truck block wouldnt fit in a stang.

My dad has one in his Bounder. I will see what the mileage is like in it. We load up and take it to the races,that is why he bought it. Me,my wife and son,Him and mom,my brother and his son pile in and go have fun. He is about to trade itt in on a Holiday Rambler with the Cummins pusher style engine. No problems encountered with the engine and it has been all over.

Sorry to take so long on this. Just got off the phone. The V-10 Triton in the Bounder,on a good flat pull,A/C on,at the posted speed limit,which is as fast as he drives it. He said expect about 8 MPG out of it.The posted speed limit on most interstaes is 65MPH,and that is what he is going by. I know some places post a speed limit of 75 MPH,but think there is a weight limit on that speed. Hope that helps you out in your decision.


What type are you looking at?? The bounder is nice,but I noticed that in heay construction zones,it will rattle pretty loudly. Probably since it is not air ride.
