I didn't want to hijack the valve height thread, but a question arose in my little mind.

Has anyone ever checked to determine what the difference in closed seat pressure would be if you installed the springs higher than the recommended height?

Say the recommended height is 1.70 with 110 seat pressure. What would the seat pressure be if you installed them at 1.72 or even 1.75? Would it be significant enough?

Depends on the spring rate. If you look at the Comp Cams catalog under valve springs each spring is listed with its rate. All you have to do is the math. Say a spring has a rate of 300#/in. that means for every .1 difference in height the pressure changes by 30# and every .01 is 3# difference.

Thanks. That's kind of what I thought.
