I was just wonder, im going to be running a solid lift cam in my 383...some people told me that i need special springs for a solid cam, and some people told me to just make sure that the springs are rated to the right life,obviously. so do i need solid lift springs?

You do need springs that will take the extra revs that a solid cam is supposed to give you. But, there are not special springs for solic cams.

Personally, you can get just as much RPM and power from a good hydraulic these days, with less hassle........ Solid cams have seem their day. Actually, roller cams are the way to go these days.

The springs should be matched to the cam that is used... The maker of the cam should recommend which springs work best with the cam... Flat tappet cams dont use alot of seat pressure so springs that are rated over what is needed can cause more problems than good...
