I also am new to hotrod forum. I am having problems with my vega steering box on 32 ford coupe. After driving for a few minutes it seems as though it has a stiff spot in steering as though it is slightly stuck. Anyone else with this problem. Could it be box or column

Ive run into this problem several time actually either the check valve is sticking on you or your pump is dropping pressure after warm up or your fluid is overheating ps fluid looses its vescosity at around 120 deg., synthetic fluids have much higher vescosity rates but in most cases are not required

I've never seen a power Vega Steering box. So I guess this is a manual steering box?

I would check the adjustments of the box, steering U-joints. If the box is near the engine, it must getting warmed up by engine heat

Actually, its not a power steering box.

Oh well, in that case your steering shaft is binding up or you have a worn worm gear, and flaming river offers a power steering vega box by the way.
