I have recently purchased a 1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan. I would like to decode the VIN number and data plate if anyone could help me. The VIn # is M6GT128148 and the data plate is:

Body Color Trim
73c E6F 29 L 7179

If anyone could help I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks, Allen

Are you sure this car is a 56? According to the book I have the 73C body style Town Sedan was available in 1955. There were 4856 made with 6 cylinder engines, 312,191 made with 292 V8s, and a scant 42 with the 312 V8.
The 55 cars have 6 volt electrics, the 56s 12 volts.

cruzinal: Welcome... You might need to ask this again in the Hotrodding Basics or General Rodding Tech forums as not many readers come here and read these intro post.

Edit: Poncho did it for you. But for future reference....
