Use anything that works for me????? The one on the car points toward the radiator, I am looking for one that points straight up, ah, you know where upper radiator hose attaches. All water outlets (AKA) thermostat housing are not the same ID nor OD nor the same bolt Bolt pattern; there are many different size thermostats as well. So it is as simple as "what ever works for you" Unless you have an illustration of different SBC water outlets.
Thanks

i think the water outlets on earlier 4.3 v-6's point straight up. If you could give me until the weekend to confirm this i would appreciated it as i'm swamped.

Then, the next question would be : Will this outlet be compatible with an early 350 manifold. (i'm assuming early for a 350 is 69-79?) My manifold is from 86.

Pardon, the gomer that built this put an ugly upper flex hose on this and I prefer to put a basic 1 1/2 90º molded hose on it as I am sure others with this issue have done.

Anyone using a water outlet on an early 350 that points straight up?
Thanks
Mike
Pretty common, there is several manufacturers of them for example...https://www.autozone.com/cooling-heating-and-climate-control/water-outlet/p/mr-gasket-performance-water-outlet-2671/1211367_0_0?cmpid=LIA:US:EN:AD:NL:1000000:pEL:19489353544&&CATARGETID=120054150001289864&CADevice=m&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2-2eBhClARIsAGLQ2Rn2IbKyLLQ-CyygPKSWHBIiY5rQXBgfptTzqKG6pQMfFmOkU6294eYaAh5xEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

A BBC of 1998 has a straight up version.
It's 1-11/16" diameter at the rib part I believe and 1-1/2" at the smooth part.
BBC and SBC both have the same hole pattern.

Sorry, thought you were looking for opinion, not specific dimensions.
I will verify when I get home later.

Do you have dimensions for your angled one for comparison?
Not that it would matter size wise. I've warmed up undersized hoses to slip them on in the past with no cooling issues.

Now the questions is, are water outlets from 4.3 v-6's compatable with v-8 sbc's? It would seem from a production standpoint to be more beneficial to GM----less parts to produce between both engines = lower costs.

My intake came from an 86 truck. Keep in mind camaros, malibus, monte carlos, impalas etc. also had the 90 degree engine even before the 4.3 came out, starting in 78.

i don't have time to research right now.
