What are the advantages of running a 180* thermostat vs a 195* thermostat?Does the engine work harder running a 180*thermostat?thanks bm

No...it just runs cooler....180 is a good temp to run. You may want a little hotter in the winter when using the heater.

Some engines do run a little better with a hotter thermostat. What motor is it?

Heater works better w/ 195F.

Extensive study showed increased engine wear as operating temps dropped.

As I recall, wear started increasing at 180F or so and got progressively worse as engine temps declined.
