I was woundering what the 68 cc mean when working with heads and how do u tell what u have for cc n my heads

Heads are mostly known by CC`s. Intake runner size is measured in CC`s, Exhaust runners, as well as combustion chambers. So a 68cc head would mean the combustion chambers are 68cc`s. The size of the chamber will have a effect on compression ratio. A smaller chamber has higher compression than will a larger chamber. Factory heads aren`t know to be real accurate on CC`s in size so many buy a CC kit to measure them.

k thanks i just found out i got heads of a 74 400 with the intake at 1.94 and exhaust at 1.50 does that have anything to do with it?

400`s came stock with 76cc large smogger chambers.
To look up what head we have is to get the last 3 digits of the casting number and look here:
http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm
Scroll down until you get to cylinder heads and look up the casting numbers of your heads.

Would shaveing the heads affect the cc at all because he said he had them shaved i think he said 30 thousandths

Are the heads you have 882`s? they are junk. What is your power goal? how much do you have to spend? Street or strip? Excessive milling heads causes misalignment problems and knocks off the valve train geometry.
