Get to know your 305 here. Chevy 305 engine
Some good info, except for the Car Craft buildup section, which seems kind of silly to me using single plane intakes and 750 double pumper.

Questions:
  • Does the truck have dual exhaust with high-flow mufflers, or at least an aftermarket single exhaust kit?
  • Is the ignition advance curve stock?

No reason to get another cam unless you have the basic stuff done!

Also, at what RPM range do you want more power?

Moved to Engine forum. Tech questions are not for Introduction forum.

I edited the thread title to reflect your engine parts question.

Thanks

Beats me descriptions of Stage something are in the eye of the advertiser not some universal explanation of cam timing and lift or other engine configuration. So you need to add numbers whether that’s from a catalog or part numbers of the technical data of cam duration lobe center angle, lobe separation angle, lifts, etc. That’s useable technical information not qualitative names like RV cam or in this case Stage 1 cam.

It will take money out of your pocket that could have been spent on a running 350

.... and the 350 will already make more torque and power than stabbing a cam in a wheezy 305
