What oil weight would you recommend I use for my newly built 350? I have been using 10w-40. Is that good enough or would you recommend I use a different weight?

5-30 or 10-30 should suffice. Generally people up the weight as engines start to age.

Seeing as how its a new engine and I assume broken in . . . now would be the opportune time to start running synthetic.

I would give it some time before you go synthetic, but don't run 10 40. Index modifiers in 10/40 have been impicated in wear problems.

I would wait on the synthetic until you're sure the motor doesn't have leaks or problems with a set of rings taking forever to seat. you'll know within a few hundred miles, and use the cheap stuff until you're done changing it like every 150 miles.

I tend to agree. Common errors in oil choices involve going too heavy and oil not being able to flow well past the bearings. Keep in mind oil is how the bearings dump their heat.

A 10-30 for a properly clearanced engine should do well.
