adventualy or soon enough i will need to eather re do or have my car sent someplace to do the interior i have a 51 ford custom deluxe 4 door and i would like some help .. does anyone know were they make kits to re cover seats and or were to get some foam for the seats because they are kinda stinky now but the back seat has no rips it it and the front seat has a small rip but it is getting larger every time you sit on it. also is there a place that i can get carpet for my ford. i am also going to put in new gauges when i rewire the car to 12v should i go with electronic or manual gauges. thanks for your help!!

Hi, there are lots of places on the internet that sell upholstry kits.
One I found right away was Mac's Antique Auto Parts

another for carpets is autoupholsterykit

You are going to have to be a lot more careful about spelling when you use google though, if you mis-spell a word you don't find squat! Here's the link to the Google search I used.

This is a question you should decide for yourself I think. You can go either way. I'm guessing you have the original engine? If so I'm not sure I'd replace the guages, maybe re-condition them to bring back the original appearance.

Manual gauges are more reliable than digital. From my experiences I've seen digital read outs that were way off compared to traditional methods.

My friend went to a mechanic and the owner used a manual compression tester to check compression on his Jeep Wrangler. The numbers were something like 80 90 85 87. With the brand new snapon digital compression tester the readings were 60 120 40 75.

The readings came out differently each time they retested each cylinder with the digital tester. With the manual tester it kept the same readings.
