I have posted this in the lounge vs. off topic because i am interested to see who fits in what car.

Id like to buy a 55 chevy truck but i am 6'6" and when i sat in a c10 i felt like i was going shoot out the windshield.
Id then started looking at chop tops, i do fit in some mild chop tops if the seat sit directly mounted on the floor.

just curious as to how tall you are and what have you squeezed into just to look cool :mwink:

I am 6-1, and fit in my 51 Ford cab,,,height wise anyways. The pedals do feel a bit close. I guess the seat could be a inch or two higher......

As for a 55 Chevy truck, they have all kinds of headroom. if the C-10 is a 68-72, they have fairly low roofs.

As for looking cool, I look like a goof no matter what I am in..................

I'm 6'2" and have a '76 Monte, lots of room. When I was younger I wanted to buy a chopped and channeled '32 Ford PU. The price was right and I had the cash. The guy handed me the keys to test drive it, I opened the door slid my butt into the seat and that's as far as I got. Couldn't get my head or legs in. He looked at me, laughed and said "I guess this means you won't be buying it......" It would be the epitome of cool today. Lumpy and faded lime green metallic with white tuck and roll, no hood, shortened bed and bobbed motorcycle fenders over big and little wide whites on chrome reverses. 283 Tri-Power with chrome headers and a chromed and drilled drop axle in the front. Sometimes being tall sucks and I have the scars on top of my head to prove it...........

I guess I am in the middle somewhere. I am 6' even. In my completely stock 56 f-100 I have tons of room over my head. It has the stock bench seat and all the stock pedals and steering. I have a headliner in there as well.

Its easy for me to reach everything, but I have the seat slid forward a little bit from the rearmost position.

I have not been in the 53-55s, but I was told by a 53 owner that they had slightly less cab room (whatever that means). Don't know if he is correct or not.

For a chop top on a 56 f-100, you tall guys could lower the seat several inches and remove the gas tank from behind the seat. There is enough room under the stock seat to slide those old wooden coke bottle crates under there. People use them as storage bins. :D

When you are long-waisted as in 6' with 32" inseam you sit taller than a lot of guys 1-3" taller. This can cause big problems in cut and channeled cars & trucks.

And I thought that I was normal. :(

I am the same size. I don't have a problem hitting the headliners on anything but the tiny cars like a civic or something. Then again, I have never been in a chopped or channeled anything. I need to try that sometime.

I'm 6'1 and I have no problem with headroom or legroom in the Fargo, but then again it's a huge cab.
Dont buy anything you'll be uncomfortable in just to look cool...the price of cool just isnt worth it.

The last truck i drove had a HUGE steering wheel, like many classic and that was a killer for me as well. I have a spare steering wheel in the garage ready to go but i obviously can't test drive a car with it.

I never thought about relocating the gas tanks, that shouldnt be too hard.
I need to find one close by just to sit in it.

My brother in law has a Model A coupe. Chopped 4 inches and channeled 4 inches. He is 5'9" and fits quite well. Or coarse the seat is on the floor resting on the back of the cab and the package shelf removed. I am 5'11" and fit in OK. Lots of leg room and about 2" of head room. My son who is 6'5" got in it and slouched down to get enough head room as he had lots of leg room. The problem is getting in and out of it. You can't get in by putting your feet in like a normal car. You have to back your butt in, duck your head and get your body inside before you pull your feet in.

I often have a bloody or scabby spot on the top of my noggin - at 6'4" a lot of immoveable objects are in my way :pain: . My daily driver is an F150 S Cab which has plenty of headroom. My current project is a '31A roadster with a 2" chop but has head room but leg and foot room is at a premium with a 32"+ inseam and with Glide bucket seats that fit up to the rear deck.

I am 6'1" and have to push the seat all the way back in my 02 Ranger. As a matter of a fact, I have to push the seat back all the way on all of my cars. I just hate it when I have to use my girlfriends car or moms car, both of them are around 5'5". I always have to adjust the seat back before I can even sit in them, those electric seats are slow at times, especially when it is cold outside. One of the joys of being tall, more cracks to the noggin from branches, low doors and clothes lines than I can count.

You forgot ceiling fans. :D I hate low ceilings with ceiling fans. :pain: Usually very tall people are big in general so even when you fit into a car your head looks enormous to other drivers. If your rod is cool enough then they will look at the car and not your enormous head  . That is what I have come to accept.

I'm the only one in my immediate family over 6 foot and both my parents were relatively short. Years ago they built a new house with an attached garage which they hadn't had before. Before the opener was installed they would raise the garage door just high enough for them to walk through. I came bopping in one day while looking down digging through my wallet and nailed the door dead center on the top of my head. My head snapped back and I literally saw stars and dropped to my knees, I thought I broke my neck. I never swore in front of my Mother (She is the original "Church Lady"! ;) ) but as I picked myself up I let loose with a very loud F---!!!! I looked up and my Mom was standing inside the kitchen door :embarrass , she just looked at me with her eyes wide, shut the door and never said a word. She was the one that had left the door part way down.

Well I may not be the tallest person here at 6.0 but I have the smallest and largest trucks here. I crawled in my Daihatsu Trimobile micro truck today and took the pic. Its really hard to fit in with the doors on. There will be more room in it when I pull the engine out that sits between the seats. I may use the Escort 1.9L engine and put it in the bed behind the cab.

My largest is a 36' Komfort on a Chevy P30 chassis. There is lots of room inside that thing.

Hey all,
we went alittle off topic here when we started talking about where we get our height from.

Im looking at the chevrolet and ford trucks. i like the 55-57 chevrolet trucks
and the f100 is always a class in my mind.

6'6" what truck is worth me driving over and hour just to sit in?

also, to avoid starting a new thread; can anyone please post some links to those extended cab conversions that people have done
