I have to put the rear window on my '72 El Camino back in before storage.

The paint supply store had two types. One is a black ribbon-like 3M product, in various diameters, and very tacky. The other is a caulk to be used in a caulk gun.

Which is preferred and easiest to work with?

The "Butyl tape" is (the ribbon stuff) is by far the easiest way to go. Get the 5/16" diameter one.

Interesting read. Thanks. I can attest to the stickiness of the butyl tape. The previous owner used it (a bunch) and it was a b**** to get the window out.
