I,ve recently bought a 56 f100 from CA and its just arrived back here in the UK. Unfortunatly it,s been down to the window tinting shop and had a severe attack of tinting which I hate. Anybody know how to remove the tint (it looks like a film), without causing any damage. It seems to be well stuck I can,t move it and do not want to try a blade of any sort. I have contacted a widow shop here and they suggested hot soapy warter and peal it off, or solvent depending upon what film has been used. Anybody else know better as solvent near good paint sounds a bit traumatic to me.

Baily, I'm no expert on this, but I've taken off a tint job once before. Let me tell you that it sure was a pain in the a**, at least the way I did it. I started by peeling off a corner at the top with a razor blade, and from there I took a heat gun and slowly peeled it off. I don't know if this is the "correct" way to do it but it worked, and I didn't use any solvent except for a little carb cleaner sprayed onto a rag to get the little stickey parts off. Good luck.

You may want to consider putting a clear or very light tint back on, why? because I don't know if 1956 trucks have decent safety glass. It will keep the glass shards out of your eyes in case of an crash

My friend had his window out of the car when we were restoring it and we soaked it with gasoline and lit it on fire that stuff melted like sandwich rap into a little ball. After it cooled we pulled it off and that was that.
