OK,,, this is going to sound really "left field" like, but here goes...

what are the con's of using rear late model glass for a windshield?

reason i ask, i was thinking about using the rear glass and glass channel frame of some late model car IF i decide to chop my car...altho i have also given serious thought to just laying the glass posts back and sectioning the top a bit...

{:EDIT:}
i should add, that the reason for all the debate, is that my car has a curved windshield... LOL
{:EDIT:}

any thoughts?

I believe that it is Federal law that the windshield be Laminated safety glass.. Rear windows are tempered glass.
Yep. A rear window would shatter on impact into little pieces and the windshield is laminated so it will not shatter. If you had a tempered glass in the front and a stone hit it ehile driving you stand a chance of glass in the face not counting the mess there would be to clean up.
