I own a 69 Camaro and I want to smooth the firewall on it. One problem that I ran into was the huge wiper motor that is in the way. I have seen many Camaros at shows without a visible wiper motor but I have no idea where to start. There is room behind the firewall under the cowl panel so maybe I could fit something in there.

I like to use VW bug motors, bracket, arms and switch. Very compact, easy to adapt and 3-speed. Get the removable bracket, under cowl arms and switch from the junk yard. Find a place under the dash to mount it and cut and weld the bracket accordingly. The goal is to have the arms on the VW align perfectly with the Camaro arms. Cut the Camaro and VW arms with an inch or so overlap and braze them together. I have done this to several cars including a '42 Willys pickup, a '36 Pontiac sedan and most recently to my '53 Chevy pickup. All of these were to replace the old vacuum motor but the principle is the same for your application.
