Hey guy's, Im wiring my 30 ford coupe with a heywire T harness and on the tail lights I picked up a set of early chevy [48] new tail lamps from So-Cal and their two wire, one green and one black, I assume one is tail and one is brake. No paper work with the lamps and the harness kit is a little confussing. these would ground thru the headlight switch and the brake light switch is that correct? bill

Correct. Put power to one wire at a time and ground. You want to determine which filament is the brighter one. Use that for your brake/turn signal and be sure to wire both sides the same.

The metal case of the tail light housing is ground. So if you have a fiberglass car the case must be hard wired to a ground point. Of course that would apply to all electrical devices in the car.

The attached drawing shows a typical turn signal, brake, hazard flasher set up. The wire colors shown on the drawing are GM and are commonly used by the various harness vendors.
I'll guess the green wire on the SoCal is TS, brake. The black wire is tail light. Test it to be sure.
