I was just reading my Hemmings Clasic Car mag when I read of wood burning vehicles. It seems that in WWII, Germany was running out of oil, they started converting vehicles to wood burning, they actually ran on the smoke generated by the fire. Many problems, filters plugging up, cleaning the system after a 60 mile run, rtc. There's a little info herehttp://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3767 . Hope this works. I googled this, if anyone else finds more info, I'd like to check it out. Dan one more

Back in the early 80's Mother Earth News built a number of gasifiers which used scrap wood to power a pickup truck, a sawmill, and an electrical generator among other things. I'm not sure if you can access these anywhere on the web but the articles I have appeared in these issues of MEN. Lots of detail on how to build the system yourself.
