I am looking for a pair of narrow slot mag style rims for the front of my 55 1st series chevy pickup. I have some 15X7"-ish wheels, but the tires rub on the fenders when turning (the pickup has been lowered, pacer ifs, etc.). I am thinking I'll need around 5" width. 14" or 15" diameter would be fine. 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

Any ideas where I can find a pair without spending a fortune? Ebay hasn't been much help.

Narrow slot mags are hard to find and I've not seen any "cheap" ones. Most current manufacturers no longer make the narrow rims. The few that do are high priced.

I also am looking for a set and check eBay daily. Do a search for Ansen, Fenton and slotted mags there.

If you have disc brakes on the front you will need to run 15" rims to clear the calipers.

You might also be able to run a wider rim with more backspacing than what your current rims have. This will give more tire to fender clearance.

That or change wheels all the way around. I needed a deep offset 7" wheel to run on my Rambler w/Jag axle -- that or narrow the axle. I found that you can't get a 5" offset 7" wheel from many people, even the so called custom wheel makers couldn't do it! I did find that you can get Weld Drag Lites in darn near any width and backspacing though. They coul go 5.5" deep on a 7" wheel, and might could have gone 6" (don't recall now...). I know they had lots of narrow wheels in just about any backset in .5" increments.

Have you cosidered narrowing your rims? There are several companies in the us that will do it. I wound up getting it done myself using local companies. The cost was about 300.00 for the pair, but we got the width we needed, and didn't have to send it out..My customer was very pleased with the result and the wheels work perfectly.

Here is the thread with that story

If any of that interests you, I can get the names of the companies that will do it for you.

Later, mikey

Farna - Yeah, I have been thinking about changing all the way around. It won't be leaving the garage until late spring anyway, so I have some time. If I don't find anything by then, 4 new rims it'll be!

Mike - Sounds like it could get expensive when you figure in $300ish like you said, plus shipping both ways. I'll keep it in mind though.

Mustangsaly - That's it! That's what I'm looking for. Let me know if you have a connection for some.

No extra narrow ones for sale. might have a set of 15X10 AND 15X11 BIG$$$$$ right around the area of $200 TO $250 PER PAIR... 1 set of ansens that need restored and a set of fentons that need restored, but be awhile be for selling any.

I know he has prob 10 sets of 4 that are 5" or 6" fronts & 8" and 10" rears and several sets of the real narrow ones, hes holding out.
