im having some trouble yankin' out an inline 216 cid from a 1953 GMC grill is out,motor mounts are loose,4 bolts that attach the tranny (manual) to engine are out,should it just slide out? maybe flex plate? can anyone help?

I don't know. Old sixers ("stovebolt")and neglected 8s (Olds Rocket v8; early 1950s, Buick Nailhead (any), Ford Flathead) are cool.

Do you have the trans supported? You need to support the front of the trans to keep it straight with wherever you have the engine lifted to, otherwise the input shaft will bind on the clutch disc/pilot bushing, not to mention that it's bad for the input shaft. If you alleviate the binding, it should slide right out.

shopping help!!

i need some orientation i have a 350 cid, 350 tranny, volare front(disc) suspension, 88 or 89 rear end (disc) would this work in a 53 gmc??? i know i need motor and tranny mounts,parts welded etc. but as far as buying parts where or who can i buy it from that you may recomend???
