1989 Jeep Comanche horn and turn signal problems

My son just bought a 1989 Jeep Comanche pickup.The horn and turn signals don't work but the flashers do.I have pretty much narrowed it down to no ground on the steering column shaft.Does anybody know how it is supposed to be grounded?Thanks for any help.

The steering column is grounded through the clamp that holds it. The horn circuit requires a grounded steering column but the turn signals do not.
If the hazard flashers work that rules out the bulbs, the wiring to the bulbs and the grounds at the bulbs.
Then we check for a blown TS fuse, a bad TS flasher and related wiring.

Thanks vicrod. I was talking about the ground for the steering shaft which as far as I know is what the horn grounds through. I saw where some people had to put a ground wire on their u joints. As for the turn signals the flasher and fuse are good.

Typically the horn button has a slip-ring and brush arrangement that connects the horn wire to ground.
The brush is connected to the (stationary) wire.
The slip-ring is connected to (rotating) horn button.

I figured the horn out.When I put the steering in a bind the horn works so that means the ujoint is not making a ground. I will put a jumper across it and be good. Now if I can only find the bad connection on the blinker curcuit.

How did you test to see if the fuse and flasher are good?
Note that the hazard flashers are fed from a different fuse than the TS.
Try this. Remove the TS flasher. Then using a test light, with the ignition ON probe the contact in the TS flasher socket.
If you have 12 volts at that point the fuse and wiring are good to that point.
Next, install a jumper across the two contact points in the TS flasher socket.
Then try the TS and see if the lights work. They won't flash.
If they do not light - try to find the steering column connector and probe for a bad connection across this point.
