I think the 27 Ford roadster is the epitome of the term "Hot Rod". They have to be one of the most beautiful of the classic Rods. Having said this, if I were to wrap one of these around my Desoto Hemi, how would I actually go about modifying a 32 frame to mount the body? It's supposedly tough, but I need to know how it's done, preferably in detail, 'cause I've got to start somewhere. I'd LIKE to use 32 frame, suspension, split wishbones, etc, and keep it as mid fifties as possible. NO billet ANYthing on it...

I don't think I've ever seen this done, but did a search and found this 26 on 32 rails featured on Sanderson's website. It shows the owner's name and city/state. Maybe you could call Sanderson and get his phone number so you could call him and ask the particulars of the swap. Just an idea......

A while back we had Rod Factory make up a frame for a 27 on 32 rails. IIRC it is narrowed at the rear, recontoured on the sides to fit the perimeter of the body and pinched at the cowl so the frame horns at the front crossmember are not too close together. The rear frame horns are bobbed and you need to fit a new trunk floor to accomodate the kickup. On a 27 the bottom of the body is flat, while the 32 has some upward curve at the front, so some modification to the body is needed, (minor trimming of the bottom of the cowl sides), to make it sit flat. You can see it in the picture that Deuce posted, the frame angles up some starting right ahead of the front of the door.
There is a company making a 32 frame specifically for the 27 that is flat in that area, but I can't remember right now who it is.
I still have the frame, (customer flaked on us), I can take some measurements if you want.
