Want to see if it's cheaper to put a lsx5.5l in s10 with 400turbo trans and vet rearend and suspension so lookin for a lsx engine or should I rebuild the 305 to refresh it and put turbos on it and do I need to change the cam shaft ? Not much of a tinkerer first time the truck is grilfriends dads lowered s10 305 tpi 400 turbo tranny and vet suspension and rearend 410s or 373 gears not sure yet but he wants to do a ls swap or put twin turbos on 305 if not that hard plus might put it on 350 heads was told u can swap with no mods doing need to upgrade the cam to add twin turbos and what size turbo s would be good I want to get the most hp and fpt out of the 305 or if it's easier to get lsx 5.5l or ls6.0 with super charger in it want to try to get 500 plus hp out of motor I want this s10 to move just as fast as heads turn when they see it 1988 91 s10 long bed powered 2inches and can chopped down two it custom smooth doors no handles it's nice so want it to have some horsepower and torque to get him going again he used to race cars so I want it to be snappy so what's the verdict lmk what I should do if I had money to do it I'd put 5000 in to a engine to get 700 to 1000 hp but budget prob 2500 parts maybe some labor I want to do most stuff

305 TPI is not a performance motor and will not take big boost or alot of nitrous. A gen1 350/383/400 would be worth an upgrade. The TPI is not a high rpm program no matter what is under it or what you're feeding into it. It will make more low rpm torque than any other factory intake setup - hands down and substantially.

After the initial expense of an LS swap, it will be way cheaper to modify to the 500+hp range than most any current platform.
