Put in terms of Carbs, it is sort of like putting a 800CFM carb on a motor that is running good with a 500CFM carb. The 305 TPI is matched to the compression, valve train, and combustion chambers of the 305 engine. Now you put on a 350 TPI that has bigger runners, bigger air valve, higher volume injectors and higher fuel pressure and you are stuffing the 305 with the wrong Air/Fuel ratio. Bad move, big disappointment. Going the other way (305 TPI on 350) produces the same bad news, big disappointment.
