Has anyone ever put a large journal 327 crank in a 400 block? I was wondering about the pros and cons of it? Would it require the same modifications as putting a 350 crank in a 400 block to make a 377? Thanks for the input.

Here's two basic small valve mildish cam 9:1 engines I made in engine analyzer everythings the same except the block/crank
347 Chev = 437 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm
388 hp @ 5500 rpm
350 Chev = 438 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm
386 hp @ 5500 rpm
In the standard 3300 pound f-body with 10 inch slicks we get a slight wheel spinish
with the 347
11.89 112.8 mph
And with the 350
11.9 112.5 mph
Worth taking notice that the 347 has alot slower piston speed, so it should be able to rev higher before it breaks (about 400 rpm), if you really wanted to impress the crowds you could have a big solid cam and use a 3 inch crank in the 400 block to make a 321 and run 7000+ rpms for the same piston speed such an engine would be doing 440 hp at 6500 rpm still with little valves (only changed the cam), running 11.53 and 117.8 mph but with a 4000 rpm stall (3500 was fastest for the other 2 engines but this one needs 4000 to get going) 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Anyway you would need a better top end for those revs all day, ok that's all, I've got to do an online exam now :/
