I have a little problem and I'm wondering if anyone will be able to help. I have a 4.3L 2002 Silverado and I want to swap my 4L60-E for a brand new 4l60-E but I was told it's not possible for me to swap on my own because the tranny is supposedly computerized and an expert needs to install the new tranny? Any suggestions?

I was just at the barbers and we where talking about trannys. Try www.700r4.com. They will sell you one, talk you through the process of setting it up, wait until you install it (even a year later) to start the warranty, and seem to be really great people. Let me know.

Hey if you can operate the wrenches and sockets to get it out and unplug the wiring harness to the trans you can change it out.
There are no computer parts in the trans only computer controlled parts. All of the computer stuff stays in the vehicle. There are some electric solenoids that are hooked to the vehicle computer that control the shifting. So knock yourself out and change that tranny.
