After finally acquiring an 80E core to build and reading through the ATSG manual I was wondering how many of the specialized "J" tools will actually be needed? When doing 700s I get by with just the piston return spring compressor and the seal installer/sizer for the back of the stator support where it goes into the rev drum and was wondering if I need to take out a loan to buy more tools or can a person get by with the spring compressor and home made lip seal installer?

Bushing drivers and the pump puller I can make myself on the lathe but what else is there that is classified as "must have/buy this tool(s) or you will ruin parts trying to install them" or "buy this tool to make a ~2hr job a 5min job and save your sanity"?

Lastly, any tips, tricks, or things to look out for from anyone that has rebuilt an 80E before I tear into mine? Ive searched the net for several days/hours and find that there isnt nearly the info out there on it like there is on the 700R4/4L60 so anything you can pass on would be appreciated.

TIA
