im dealing with an 8.8 now.....but if it is too wide for your application, one axle is 1.5 inches shorter...what im doing is getting another short axle and cutting the longer side of the housing to match it which also shortens your track width bu 1.5 inches...hope this helps younightrain_rod said:Anyone know the width of a 1979-1993 Ford Mustang 5.0L 8.8" Rear End from hub-to-hub?I'm thinking that it's 53 inches,but I'm not for sure.I think that I'm gonna get one of these for my Pinto 351W project,depending on how wide they are.A Pinto rear is 52 inches wide.If the 8.8" is 53",another 1/2" on each side won't hurt it.I'll just have to relocate the shock mounts and leaf spring mounts and stick it under there.I think that it'll handle a 350-400hp 351W.
