Auto painting set-up that I can also use w/ house paint

I need to paint my house (inside) and was planning on using an airless sprayer. Then, I started thinking that if I'm gonna spend $200 maybe I can spend a little more and get something that I can use to paint my car. Probably never happen, but i'd be nice to have the option.

Anyone know of a reasonably priced set-up(preferably HVLP) that can handle both?

This way it comes out of the "home maintenance" budget and not the "project car" budget :D

Probably not in HVLP. I used an old style, remote 1 gal paint pot type gun to paint the inside of my pole barn white. I used a large nozzle (DeVilbiss gun) and thinned the gallon interior gloss about 15%. This worked very well with the pot pressure turned up a bit. I could hit the peak of the inside roof and get good coverage.

I dunno.. try using the excuse so you can get your car paint gun, then just paint the house by hand. I dunno if anything works better than the standard Wagner Power painter, but I got one and I stained my deck with it, then I later painted a wooden fence, and I have to say.. it did a good job of painting my face and arms. They don't seem to have a reputation of being very worthwhile beyond the first job you use them for.

You Can Do It!

Unless your house is brand new, your best bet is to get yourself an 18 in. roller w/shorter nap depending on how deep/thick the texture of the surface. Brush and roll w/o getting too far ahead of yourself so everything blends nicely and you can get a house done supprisingly quick when you compare it to everything that you would have to mask off for spraying. Airless is the only way to go for walls. Air- Assisted- Airless, HVLP, and conventional air(automotive type ) sprayers are all good for trim. The conventional is what you want for your car. Good Luck
