The instruction are correct follow them exactly. I have installed at least 7 of those and they are a solid install that adjusts and work exactly as advertised .. You have made a mistake, just take your time and go back over it ..

 

One thing I'd add is, if the current cable is like they were, it's too long. So loop the cable carefully over the transmission, avoid kinking it and make the loop as large and gentle of a bend as possible.

 

Did it come with a new lever? If not you'll need to buy a B&M lever even if the instructions say you can use the stock one. I had the exact same problem with a quick silver. My trans guy told me there are at least a dozen different levers for all the different shifter manufactures and he's had to fix a lot of trannies because of the trans being in between gears

 

No the lever is not from B&M thanks looked on line at pics and it looks like lever from B&M is squared where it fits on shaft however if my memory is correct my selector shaft is half moon type? How would I get it on?

Trans selector shaft is a Double D shape, the B&M lever has a rectangular hole to fit on this shaft., shaft has a flat cut on each side.
