Wow...what a tight looking spot. I'm assuming the engine has to come out the front instead of through the door? any tricks to make this easier? The van is the '70-96 bodystyle.
Best way to pull an engine from a full size GM van?

If you have a lift out the bottom is the easy way. Unbolt the engine crossmember and lift the body off.( This is how we do it at the salvage yard when you dont have to put it back together)
The grill, rad crossmember and rad etc has to come out. If you jack the front end up about a foot or so, it makes the cherry picker easier to get in under the dash.
ive done it out the front its a tight one take off the hood grill rad a/c condenser all the acc. including the carb and dist I also took off the motor mounts, cups and towers get one of those mounts that mounts to the intake where the carb goes and make the chain as short as possible if you can loosen up the crossmember
good luck

obviusly you want to put one back in right?/
cause the easiest way is through the roof ( man i miss workin in the bone yard  ) yes i will admit ive killed more cars and trucks than ive fixed there is a deep satifaction in crushing a yugo ... k cars go really flat ah hh hh sorry i digress
Yep! Out of the front. I took off near everything that was up there. Took me most of a week. But then that was the first engine I ever pulled. (with help)
