Does it make sense to carb/(no computer) an LT1 ?

I have an 82 K10 Chevy,4wd,4 spd, w/ a tired 305 V8 4bbl w/ 190K on it. I also have a 94 Roadmaster, complete, w/ strong running 5.7 LT1 w/ 120k. I'm considering dropping the LT1 in and was thinking of trying to get away without using the computer/ its many input sensors. I think I need to use a standard HEI distributor, electric fuel pump, intake manifold, carb, and possibly move/ eliminate AC compressor in order for this to work. I'm hoping maybe someone may have done this or knows of someplace to get some info. My goal is to have a daily driver w/ a little more oomph, all the while "recycling" parts & pieces I already have laying around. Worth the effort or waste of time ? Any input greatly appreciated. PS: I'm new to this "thread posting / replying" but will try to acknowledge any responses ASAP. Thanks again.

You're looking for GM part number 24502592 intake kit. This replaces the EFI intake for a 4 barrel carb, includes provisions for a conventional distributor in the typical Chevy SBC rear location, has a plug to close the drive shaft hole after the front mount distributor is removed. Then all you need is an HEI distributor and carb. The LT1 does not have a provision for an engine driven fuel pump, you will need to install a carb compatible electric pump close to the fuel tank(s).

Almost forgot, you will have to get a flywheel for the one piece rear seal crank flange configuration.

Getting the EFI onto your old truck is a muy grande job, it's a lot more than hooking up the wire harnesses. It needs sensors from your tranny that the 82 doesn't have and will need a high pressure fuel delivery system installed, more work than you'd think. Good systems, but can be costly in time and money to add into an old vehicle.
