Does this look Stupid?

I posted two new pics of my 23 T project. I have the 3" stainless exhaust mocked up from the turbos out, but I'm not sure I like the look. Take a look and tell me what you think. Too big, too short, too long, or just plain ugly. If you hate it, tell me why and give me some suggestions to make it better. In case you're wondering there are 125 pie cuts that will be filled in and polished. Why? Because I have more time than money. The headers are also stainless and will be polished.

Thanks for looking,
Kevin

different for sure

well kevin i'll have to say they are different, but really i wouldn't care what others think because its your ride and in this day of street rods & rods in general there's a rule a lot of us live by "DARE TO BE DIFFERENT" that why a lot of us buy those odd ball cars & rod them out. but personally they dont look to bad considering it looks like you're running double- double or should I say quad-super chargers which in its self looks wild. soooo keep on doing what you're doing cause when it's all done the folks will look at it w/wide eyes and stand there in amazement over the work you have done..............joe

I'm with TooMany....different and very interesting. Will you coat the pipes completely when you get them sized up and done? Seems there's many shades and colors going on there. Being an ex Military guy, uniformity is key for me.

4 turbos? Hope you plan on wheelie bars for that monster!!!

What a monster! The way you're going with this, I'd say the wilder the better. I bet I know where you could sell those wheels, Willy's36 is remaking the Ed Roth's 'Mysterion' and I'd say those are the wheels he needs for the rear.

Thanks guys. The turbos are going to be ceramic coated. All of the exhaust tubing is 316L stainless and will polish up just like chrome. Willy's36 and I discussed the wheels about a year ago but I don't want to let them go. The old two piece Radirs can be found pretty regularly on Ebay.

I`m not one to judge how one wants his rod to look, I`ve always been different in that prospective, what one likes won`t be what another likes, so make yourself happy, your time, your sweat, your money, your choice. as for 4 turbo`s, I only feel it`s a bit of overkill, with 2 on a car that light and a BBC it`s already gonna be hard to handle, so I hope you take safety seriously, I love rodding just as much as everyone else here, but I hate to see anyone hurt or killed doing it. good luck.

Wow it is different alright. In 30 years of judging car shows I`ve seen just about every thing you could imagine. Your rod will defiantly be a crowd drawing eye catcher. Engineering is what it`s all about.

Looks like your going to make a statement,by not building a conventional rod. So go for it . Who knows you may start a new trend. By doing so you will get a lot of negative, as well as positive comments.

I look at a rod or car for how much was done to it, how good it was done, and how hard it was to do. No matter if I like it or not, the owner builder does or they would not have it.

You have a lot of weight suspended between the front and rear axles, for this kind of setup (extra long wheel-base ) you need a extra strong frame. HTH

Good Luck

The motor is going to be multiport injected. The intake is going to be a short ram with two aluminum tubes in a double barrel (shotgun bill) arrangement for a plenum. I'm going to try to hide the throttle bodies and make it look like one piece running along the hood and down through the grille shell into the intercooler. The computer is a megasquirt and the injectors are alcohol ready 160lb Bosch. As the car sits it has 370 pounds on each front and 340 on each rear. The cage ties into the mid plate at the top of the trans in an attempt to stiffen the chassis through the middle. If a spring eye or shackle breaks though, I will be plow'n asphalt.

Kevin-
I think it's one of the coolest turbo designs I've seen. Looks like it took some time to think up along with fab up. Keep up the great work, and keep us posted on how it's going! If you have any more detailed pics, I'd love to see them!

OK being the odd man out here, first it looks VERY cool. Do you have an idea of the exhaust temps? Since the top turbo runs right next ro the body the paint and everything in that area might cook. Maybe run a double tube with the outer one being like an air cooled gun barrel. If you could swing it down you might get the top exhaust to be more parallel to the bottom. This may sound like a dumb statement but you may want to talk to some tractor pull guys. They are masters at getting multi turbo alcohol stuff to run. they may have some tips on exhaust routing. Keep it up and Mattel will be after you for a new Hot Wheel! I mean that as a complement.

gt2be,
This is my first frame up build. Money is tight so I had to learn how to fabricate everything. I've spent almost as much on tools as parts.

Jag Daddy,
The pipes are actually being pushed close to the body in the pics by the lower pipe. It hasn't been cut to length yet. The upper pipe is the closest to the body and it actually runs parrallel to the tub at a distance of two inches. If things get hot I'm going to fit a small stainless panel (engine turned) to the tub behind the pipe. I'm not planning on running alky on the street, but It will be an environmentally friendly "Flex Fuel Vehicle".

Trees,
I think turbos are DOT approved as mufflers. The new Neon doesn't have mufflers, but is has a cat. If I need to, I'm going to make inserts to quiet things down. Otherwise I'll never get my wife in the car.

Funny you guys should mention it....I was actually considering rolling some Hot Wheels lettering in the belly pan. I was thinking about calling it the "Quad Turbo T"

Thanks for all the input. I'm still open to suggestions,
Kevin
