Draining water from block BBC

Is there a plug somewhere on the block (BBC) that I can remove to get the water out of the lower portion of the block? I have a head bolt that is seeping water above the starter and would like there to be no water at the thread level when I re-apply thread-sealer to the bolt. The motor is installed in my K5 Blazer.

Or is getting the water level below the threads even necessary?

I used Permatex thread sealer. Is there a better threadsealer to use? I have a buddy that says he always uses Indian Shellac.

Thanks in advance.

Mid-way on the block (both sides) there is a threaded plug (3/8"), this is right above where the oil pan bolts up (so lowest point). You can drain the block from both sides. But in your case you'll probably only have to drain the starter side. I use a plumping thread sealant you find at Home Depot ...red can ...sealant is yellow colored ...don't remember what it's called, but works very well. Not expensive either. GOOD LUCK!

I think that plug has been in the block from the day it was first assembled. I couldn't get it to budge by rachet. Hooked up my impact on lowest setting and the allen bit spun in the hole. I'm going to pull one of the lower bolts and pump air into the radiator to push the water out.

I wonder if this thread was too beginnerish... .

Remove the two farthest back head lower bolts. They will drain enough coolant out.

I don't believe this thread will be moved, we will just have to see how this plays out.
