from what i can figure out it is an early version of the torker in various powerband configurations.they had the,
scorpion 1 pt.#2950 strip 4500-7500
scorpion/tarantula pt.#2955 street/strip 3500-7000
tarantula pt.#2690 street/strip 3500-7000
scorpion/torker pt.#2960 street 2500-6500
torker pt.#2725 street 2500-6500
streetmaster pt.#3225 street 1000-4500,,,,,they all look something like the original torker and this is all back at the time when the torker first came out.the scorpion and tarantula were the big guns for edelbrock back in the day is what it looks like.

I have one of these tarantula intakes for a small block chevy. The identifier is "TM1" cast into the front/top of the manifold inlet. It also has an open boss for the installation of the oil filler, since these were cast in the early 70's. The march 1971 issue of hot rod mag has the introduction article. This is almost if not precise predecessor to the Torker manifold.
