epoxy over rattle can primer

Is this possible? The truck Im working on has some rustoleum primer on the fire wall on some spots. Is it ok to spray epoxy over it? I cant get to some off the areas good enough to take it down to bare metal. This wont be a show truck by any means but I just want to make sure it will bond.Thanks

If you can scuff up the paint that is there, the epoxy should stick. Idealy, you would want to remove the Rustoleum, as it would be the weak link, but the epoxy should stick to it.

You can try it but don't be surprised if it "dirty's" up over the primer.
Epoxy & enamel don't seem to get along too wel IMO and it will look as if you got trash or dry spray. Try it and SEE, worst case is MORE sanding. LOL...

Yea I will try, Its not that much that will be oversprayed. When you mean dirtyed, do you mean like a rough look?Thanks

"If it's not that much" I would recommend just sanding it back to bare metal. My concern would be with how long it has been there and how much moisture it has absorbed. An unsealed laquer type primer will draw moisture which will cause surface rust on the underlaying metal. Take it off...
