NHRA website reports that John Force was fined $10K for physical contact with an NHRA official during the altercation with Tony Pedregon on Labor Day at Indy.

What a crock of crap! Pedregon ought to pay half for running his big f'ing mouth. What a jerk.

Force needs a few practice sessions on how to throw a race....make it look better, keep the whiners mouths shut...lmao!

I like Force, he's done a lot for the sport. He's a one man promotion show when it comes to the track and spectators. He does need some way to stuff the fine down NHRA's throat, the pennies would be a good way to do that.

Never mind the fact that the NHRA official put himself in between the two, during the argument. Whatta load of sh--!

By thoughts on the Pedregon bros are already on record, as are my feelings on Force Racing, so I'll leave it at that.

Force was asked before the run in question, if he was gonna give it away. He didn't say he was or was not- what he said was the fans would get a show.

My thoughts on the deal is that Force had every intention of doing everything except (and possibly including) flipping his car up-freaking-side-down on that run. TOTALLY out of shape. A real crowd pleaser.

That's why he waited like 2 tenths (forever, in other words) to launch his car- so his dumb a-- son-in-law would be the hell out of the way. That's why he took the worst of the two lanes, although they were both fine- witness Ashley's run against Tony, when she KICKED HIS PUNK A__!!! LOL.

And that's why he drove it out of the groove and jerked so hard in the correction- (the front left tire was airborne at one point) he wanted to get it out of shape big-time. Problem was, Force's car hooked instead of really frying the hides, and his plot was thwarted by too much traction.

cobalt,

While I don't disagree with you, this type of thing happens in F1, Nascar and the like more often than we know-I don't like it either, but if I were John Force I'd do the same-he has Sponsors to answer to.

IMHO, Pedregon baited the whole deal-Force should not have pushed the Official the way he did-his emothions got the better of him (as it usually does)-I think the best part was when Force said to Pedregon "my kid kicked your A##"-now that's funny!

Now the Pedregon boys want a re-match-can you say "sour grapes"?

:) An excerpt from my post from Wednesday, on THIS thread:

“But to say he's (John Force) cheating by fielding 25% of the FC field is false. And NHRA reviewed his run w/team mate Height that caused the ruckus and the run was allowed to stand. No conclusive proof the race was thrown.

"Everyone who knows what's what, knew the race was already decided. But that's the fault of the rules structure- NOT John Force. That he took (and takes) full advantage of the rules is not cheating, IMO. Nor do I have a problem with "team orders". I don't like it, but if it's within the team itself and not giving a race to another team, I do not see that as cheating. I think the competitors and the sponsors will take care of it if it gets out of hand.”

But there's no rules or laws saying he has to keep his pie hole shut....

Force vs Pedregron - Match Bash???

I really love drag racing, but after years of going to races and watching on TV, I've seen the pro racing degenerate into "wrestling", which is an exhibition not a competition.
It's still cool watching 4 second runs at over 300mph, even if they aren't racing.

No doubt that Tony's a whiner, notice that Cruz didn't weigh in (he's got some class). What they need is to bring Frank onto their team (he's a great down to earth guy and I've seen him do good with junk - back when Tony was with Force and Cruz had the McD car).

As for John, so he has to pay $10k to NHRA while his sponsors kick in a few extra $100k because his antics generated plenty of TV time for cheap.
I will say good for John, he's smart enough to know that it's worth more to put Robert in the countdown, there's no telling which Force car will perform best in the last of the season. It may turn out that Robert in 10th wins the championship (Good for Force racing and the Force family).

If there's a knock on John, it has to be bad acting - we knew he was gonna lay down, but I expected for him to look good doing it (at least establish reasonable doubt).

Cruise didn't say anything negative until the run between John and Height was over. Then the cameras see him say "He cheats".

Which is a shame because until then, he showed a lot of class- he even congratulated Force after Force beat him in the second round.

A race that, had Cruise won, could have set up a different scenario- one in which Cruise would have met Height in the semi's so they could have had it out for all the marbles- THAT would have been a race to see! BUT CRUISE LOST TO JOHN in round 2! That's what did him in just as much as Force losing to Height!

The freaking network was the ones who instigated the beef as much as anyone. They kept saying to Force, "Tony said this, Cruise said that." Force just kept saying he wasn't gonna talk trash on anyone and to not bother trying to get him to do so.

It wasn't until Tony went down there and talked crap to Force that the fur flew. It looked for all the world that Tony was baiting John, hoping that John would take a poke at him. He kept crowding Force, leading w/his face, for crying out loud!

As for brawls and racing- they go hand-in-hand. If not for TV, they'd still be hammering on each other the same way they always have done it- there's nothing at all new about racers dukeing it out.

If not for fighting during the first LIVE TELECAST of the Daytona 500 in '79 (that spurred HUGE interest), NASCAR might not have taken off the way it did back then! Who can forger Cale and the Allison's having at it in front of God and Country, right in the infield!
